A UN human rights report said North Korea, under Kim Jong-un, has executed people for watching and distributing foreign media, including films and TV shows. The executions are carried out by firing squads in public to instil fear in people, North Korean escapees told UN researchers. Around six new laws allowing for death penalty have been introduced there since 2015.
