Crime Branch of Assam Police issued summons to journalists Karan Thapar and Siddharth Varadarajan in connection with an FIR filed against them under Section 152 of the BNS. The section criminalises acts that endanger the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India. Varadarajan said the summons is "bad in law" as they haven't been informed about what they are accused of.
