Former Supreme Court judge Justice (retd) Sanjay Kishan Kaul said the judiciary must perform the role of a catalyst for the rights of queer persons. "India's legislative landscape for LGBTQIA+ recognition has evolved, but significant gaps persist," he said, adding that the Indian law does not define the term 'queer', and asexual individuals are invisible in policy frameworks.
