Ashwini Ganapathi, a 39-year-old athlete from Karnataka, becomes the only non-Japanese runner to finish the Deep Japan Ultra 100 trail race. She covered 173 kms with a 9,000-metre elevation, which is higher than Mount Everest. She ran for over 45 hours with no sleep, while carrying 6kgs of safety gear and 2 kg of food and water.
