Kantara Chapter One director Rishab Shetty called the Karur stampede "an accident" and refused to blame any individual or government. Out of respect for the victims, the team had earlier cancelled the Chennai promotional event. Rishab Shetty had assured fans that the crew would engage with the audiences at a more suitable time.
