A baby elephant trapped for four days in a water canal near Shivanasamudra, Mandya, was rescued by Karnataka Forest officials on Tuesday. The calf had slipped in while drinking water and struggled due to strong currents. After lowering the water level, the team tranquilised the elephant and lifted it out using a crane.
