Karnataka is introducing a new law to penalise fake news on social media with up to 7 years jail and ₹10 lakh fine. The bill proposes a regulatory body and special courts for swift action. Misinformation that disrupts peace or elections will be punishable. Content insulting women or Sanatan symbols will also be targeted under this digital regulation effort.
