The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust in Varanasi approved new service rules for priests and staff, granting them state government employee status, stated reports. Priests, who were getting ₹30,000, will reportedly see their salaries nearly triple to ₹90,000. It's the first major improvement in the service conditions of priests after UP government took over the temple's administration in 1983.
