Rashtriya Bajrang Dal (RBD) sought minority status for Vaishno Devi Medical College to enable reservation of seats for Hindus in J&K. RBD alleged that nearly 70% of seats were allotted to students from Kashmir. However, officials said that admissions were made on merit as the institute doesn't have minority status and no reservation criteria based on religion could be applied.
