Kerala is casting a wider net for its fisherwomen. The Fisheries Department is launching projects aimed at the integrated and sustainable development of women in the coastal belt. Beyond boosting livelihoods, the schemes aim to create hundreds of new self-employment and indirect job opportunities through microenterprises and e-commerce, though concerns about long-term impact remain.
