Kerala has formally declared snakebite a notifiable disease under Section 28 of the Kerala Public Health Act, 2023. It was announced through a gazette notification on Friday, signed by Dr Rajan Khobragade, Additional Chief Secretary (Health). The notification stated, "Snakebite envenomation is hereby declared a disease of public health importance throughout the state".
