Kerala's Health Minister Veena George said that Kerala's infant mortality rate is lower than that of US which had a rate of 5.6 infant deaths per 1,000 live births in 2022. Meanwhile, Kerala's infant mortality rate dropped to 5 per 1,000 live births, according to the Sample Registration System Statistical Report-2023. India's national average is 25 per 1000 live births.
