Schools and educational institutions in Madikeri, Virajpet, and Somwarpet in the Kodagu district of Karnataka will be closed on July 18, 2025, because of rains and a red alert sounded by the IMD. This was done for safety with landslides and flash floods looming large. Excess rain was received in many places at 100 mm or more.
