Kolkata civic body cancelled the holiday for Vishwakarma Puja (September 17, 2025) in Hindi medium schools run by Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The civic body, in an order, stated that one day holiday has been cancelled to extend Eid-ul-Fitar holiday from one day to two days (March 31, 2025 to April 1, 2025). However, the order was revoked after public backlash.
