Government's newly enforced Labour Codes have capped the working hours for beedi and cigar workers at 8-12 hours per day. Minimum wages have been guaranteed for these workers. "Overtime work beyond prescribed hours, to be consent-based and pay at least double…normal wage rate," government said. Workers are eligible for a bonus after completing 30 days of work in a year.
