Recently, many H-1B visa holders who were laid off in the USA have been issued "Notices to Appear" (NTAs), which begin deportation proceedings, even while they are still within the legally authorized 60-day grace period after job loss. This 60-day window is meant to let visa holders find a new job, switch to a different visa status.
