The largest known piece of Mars ever found on Earth has been sold for $5.3 million (over ₹45.5 crore) at an auction of rare geological and archaeological objects in New York. The 24.5-kg meteorite, named NWA 16788, was discovered in Niger's Sahara Desert by a meteorite hunter in 2023. It was initially expected to fetch $2 million to $4 million.
