Police in UP's Varanasi used a bulldozer to demolish the ancestral house of late Padma Shri awardee and hockey player Mohammad Shahid as part of a road widening project. A man from Shahid's family had asked police to halt action for a day, but was refused. Shahid was part of the India hockey team that won gold in 1980 Olympics.
