The Allahabad High Court quashed criminal proceedings in a gang-rape case after the two parties reached a settlement. The court stated that law is a "means of justice, not a weapon for conspiracies". It also imposed a fine of ₹2,000 each on the victim and accused, adding, "Now it has become common for people to file cases to settle scores."
