AIMIM chief Asaddudin Owaisi condemned Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's order directing slaughterhouses and beef shops to remain shut on Independence Day and Janmashtami (15-16 August) and said, "What's the connection between eating meat and celebrating I-Day?" Likewise, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray criticised the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Commissioner for a similar order.
