Legendary Bangladeshi folk singer Farida Parveen, widely known as the 'Queen of Lalon Geeti', passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday night after battling with kidney complications for a long time. Farida Parveen was honoured with Bangladesh's second-highest civilian award, 'Ekushey Padak' in 1987 and the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1993.
