Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stressed that loan recovery by Non-Banking Financial Companies must be "fair, empathetic and respectful" in line with RBI's Fair Practices Code. Citing media reports, she added that harsh measures were also being taken for recovery of ₹500. "Push for growth shouldn't come at the expense...of customer well-being," she said.
