Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, while talking about machine-readable voter list during a press conference on Sunday, said the Supreme Court, in 2019, stated it can result in privacy violation of voters. Notably, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who has levelled "vote theft" allegations, has repeatedly demanded release of machine-readable voter list.
