The Madras High Court on Friday ordered the formation of an SIT (Special Investigation Team) to investigate the Karur stampede in which 41 people were killed. The SIT will be headed by Inspector General of Police Asra Garg. The court also temporarily barred political parties from conducting public meetings or events on state and national highways in Tamil Nadu.
