Madras High Court on Tuesday, put on hold its earlier interim order that had appointed a commission to look into allegations of police excess during the Chennai conservancy workers’ protest at Ripon Building on 13 August. The stay was issued by Justices J Nisha Banu and S Sounthar, after hearing a plea from the Greater Chennai Commissioner of Police.
