The Madras HC directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay an interim compensation of ₹25 lakh to the family of security guard Ajith Kumar, who died in police custody. The government had paid ₹7.5 lakh to his family; however, the court deemed the amount inadequate in light of the post-mortem report's findings and ordered the government to pay ₹25 lakh.
