The Maharashtra cabinet approved doubling the honorarium given to people in the state who were imprisoned during the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi. Currently, those imprisoned for a month receive ₹5,000 per month, while those jailed for more than a month get ₹10,000. The cabinet also decided to add the name of the imprisoned person's spouse as a beneficiary.
