The Maharashtra government has directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to immediately shut down all 'kabootar khanas' (pigeon feeding zones) in Mumbai. The move follows concerns raised in the Assembly about health hazards caused by pigeon waste and feathers, which can lead to respiratory diseases. According to Minister Uday Samant, there are around 51 such zones in the city.
