Maharashtra government reconstituted the committee to resolve its border dispute with Karnataka. The 18-member committee is headed by CM Devendra Fadnavis and also includes Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, Prithviraj Chavan and Sharad Pawar. The border issue between the states dates back to 1957. Maharashtra sought to include Belagavi in the state as it has a sizeable Marathi-speaking population.
