Maharashtra's power utility MSEDCL has launched the Swayampurna Maharashtra Residential Rooftop (SMART) Scheme, offering 25 years of free electricity to BPL and EWS households through 1-kilowatt rooftop solar systems. With a budget of ₹655 crore, the scheme targets 5 lakh homes. Beneficiaries receive central and state subsidies, up to ₹47,500 for BPL families.
