Maharashtra government will cancel over 42,000 fake birth certificates issued to Bangladeshis staying illegally in state by August 15, state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said. This follows BJP leader Kirit Somaiya's allegation last year that 3,997 such certificates were issued to Bangladeshis using forged documents. Bawankule said the number may rise as verification continues.
