Nurses in Maharashtra began their indefinite statewide strike against contractual recruitment policies, effective June 6. Over 30,000 nurses from government hospitals and health centres have stopped services in major cities, including Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, demanding permanent recruitment, increased allowances, and filling of vacant nursing positions to reduce workload pressures.
