Male humpback dolphins off Western Australia have been observed placing sea sponges on their heads as a courtship display to attract females. The dolphins pick sponges of different shapes and colours, wearing them like 'wigs' on their snouts. The findings about the behaviour of Humpback dolphins, listed as vulnerable under the National Environmental Protection Act, could help in their protection.
