A stampede near the Vishnu Nivasam complex in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, claimed six lives while over 40 people were injured. A woman who visited Tirupati with 20 family members described the chaos and said, "As soon as the police opened the gate, pilgrims rushed to purchase tokens...Male pilgrims rushing for tokens caused injuries to several women, who were....shifted to...hospital."
