Malta, Luxembourg and Belgium became the latest countries to formally recognise the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly, joining UK, Canada and Australia in doing so. Belgian PM Bart De Wever, however stressed that legal recognition would only take effect once all hostages have been released and Hamas has been removed from the governance of Palestine.
