Malta is set to formally recognise state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, according to Malta PM Robert Abela's office. Malta has had a history of supporting Palestinian causes with the wife of former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat living in the country for several years. However, Malta has also maintained diplomatic relations with Israel.
