YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was on a visit to Rentapalli village in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh where the leader was scheduled to unveil a statue. As the convoy passed, the victim, Cheeli Singaiah, attempted to shower flowers on the former CM. In the process, he was struck by the vehicle Reddy was travelling in and later crushed under the vehicle, leading to his death.
