A man named Shankargouda Hadimani, who's been selling vegetables in Karnataka's Haveri for four years, received a ₹29-lakh GST demand notice. The notice claimed that Hadimani had made transactions worth ₹1.63 crore in four years. He said he buys vegetables directly from farmers and most customers prefer to pay via UPI. Vegetables bought this way aren't taxed, according to ClearTax.
