A man identified as Usman was arrested for allegedly spitting on the kanwar of a woman pilgrim in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Tuesday. Several angry pilgrims gathered at the spot after the incident, following which police showed a video of the accused apologising to pacify the pilgrims. The accused's family claimed he is deaf and mute.
