Protests erupted in Manipur's Imphal after the security forces arrested Meitei leader Kanan Singh. Some young men, protesting over the arrest, poured petrol on their heads and threatened to set themselves on fire. Notably, Singh is the main suspect in the attack on the house of ASP Moirangthem Amit and the subsequent kidnapping of the police officer in 2024.
