A local resident who hoisted the national flag at a village in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Independence Day has been allegedly killed by Maoists. The deceased was identified as Manesh Nareti of Binagunda village and was seen in videos that went viral after Independence Day. Notably, 31 civilians have been killed in Maoist-related violence this year.
