A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.5 struck the Drake Passage, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. The quake occurred at a depth of 11 kilometres between the southern tip of South America and Antarctica. It was initially reported as magnitude 8.0 before being revised downward to 7.5, the agency added.
