A massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Russia's Kamchatka coast on Wednesday, the US Geological Survey stated. The earthquake was shallow and strong enough to cause waves or tsunami, it added. A tsunami alert has been issued for Russia, Japan and Pacific islands. The Japan Weather Agency said it expects a 3.28-foot tsunami to reach coastal areas from 6.30 am (IST).
