MDMK MP Durai Vaiko blamed the people attending the Karur rally, after which a stampede killed at least 41 people. He said, "It is up to the people to have an awareness when going to functions like this." He added that organisers also have the responsibility to ensure events are conducted legally and within police guidelines.
