A controversy has erupted after guests were allegedly served meals, each worth ₹5,000, on silver plates rented for ₹550 each at an event of the Maharashtra government. "When the state is virtually on the brink of bankruptcy, what was the need to serve meals on silver plates to members of the Estimates Committees in Mumbai?" Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar asked.
