Bugle, which originated in Meerut and has been used by armed forces in wars, parades for decades, has received Geographical-Indication (GI) tag. Bugle-making in Meerut began in 1885, when craftsman Nadir Ali opened a small workshop producing bugles and trumpet. "From British soldiers to freedom fighters our bugles were part of every kind of historical moment," Ali's grandson said.
