Nongpyrdi villagers in East Khasi Hills planted 80 native banana trees along the shrinking Wah Umsot river to restore water flow. Guided by NESFAS, the community chose strong-root species to stabilise the riverbank. Residents are now monitoring the saplings and working with landowners to protect the area from further degradation.
