The Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court said "mere medical evidence of sexual intercourse isn't enough to establish guilt under POCSO or rape charges". The court said this while quashing charges against Basit Bashir who was accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting two minor girls. It added there was no direct or circumstantial evidence tying Basit to alleged offences.
