Meta may have to pay compensation to thousands of Facebook users after it lost a court battle in Germany over a massive data leak that took place in 2021. The data was collected by unknown perpetrators in 2018 and 2019 through 'scraping', which exploited a loophole in the social network's search function. The data was then leaked in April 2021.
