The Mexican government is preparing to impose higher tariffs on Chinese imports in its 2026 budget proposal which will be presented next month. The move has been backed by the US and Mexican officials have also floated the idea of forming a 'Fortress North America', whose aim would be boosting trade and industrial ties among US, Mexico and Canada.
